Baen Books is looking for adventure, and is running their second annual Baen Fantasy Adventure Award Contest to find it.

In partnership with the Gen Con Writer’s Symposium, the story can be in any of the sub-genres of fantasy, and must be 8,000 words or less. There is no entry fee, but there is only one entry per writer allowed. Entries will judged by the Baen editorial staff, and the finalists will also be judged by writer Larry Correia, best known for his Monster Hunter series.

You can read last year’s winner here. The grand prize winner will be published as the featured story on the Baen Books website and paid at industry-standard rates for submissions. The winner will also win a prize package of $500 worth of free Baen books.

The deadline is April 1, 2015, with finalists announced on July 1 and winners notified by July 7. The winner will officially be announced at the Writer’s Symposium at this year’s Gen Con in Indianapolis.
