Night Vale News: Book, 2015 Tour, & YouTube Channel

In March of 2014, I was lucky enough to talk to Jeffrey Craner & Joseph Fink, the co-writers of the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale as part of the promotion for their tour. At the end of the article, I write that they had recently announced that they would be releasing a book in 2015. Since then, said book has gotten a release date (October 20), a cover (see image), and jumped into the top 10 list at Amazon within hours of being released for pre-orders.

This isn’t anything unusual. Their 2014 tour was so successful, they’re doing another one in 2015 with brand new material. (The live recording of last year’s tour, “The Librarian” is available for purchase on the Welcome to Night Vale Bandcamp page, and on iTunes.) Tour dates are listed on the Welcome to Night Vale website, but many venues are sold out – some selling out within hours of the dates being posted.

If the tour and the book aren’t enough for you, the denizens behind the dark drama now also have their own YouTube Channel. While most of the content is putting up the older (as well as freshly released) podcast episodes, Craner and Fink are also using it for behind the scenes videos (like a backstage video from the New York City performance of “The Librarian”) and bonus content (like their video announcing the tour, done in the style of the opening pre-show ‘announcement’ that the podcast does).

Of course, if you, too, avoid the dog park and are now terrified of street cleaners, you probably already know that to get more information on any of this, you should visit their website.
