In October of 2014, I had the chance to interview Huston Huddelston, the man behind the Hollywood Sci Fi Museum, tentatively scheduled to open by 2018. Well, he’s at it again with another Kickstarter, this time to have a traveling museum to coincide with it – this time, focused specifically on horror. The goal of the Kickstarter is to raise funds for a world tour in 2016, and then to become a permanent fixture next to the Sci Fi Museum.

The museum, as with the Sci Fi Museum, plans on including props and costumes from a variety of horror films and television shows, with interactive exhibits. It also plans on having an educational aspect, with teaching the history of horror, as well as classes in makeup, costumes, and special effects. “Horror shows us that the control we believe we have is purely illusory, and that every moment we teeter on chaos and oblivion. I can think of no better reminder, nor worthwhile effort, than saving our most iconic and important horror artifacts to display for future generations,” states board member (and horror writer) Clive Barker states in the press release.

As of this writing, the Kickstarter has raised a little over $6,500 of its goal of $21,600, and ends on October 12. For more information about the project, visit the Kickstarter page.
